6 months and they're all grown up!

My little boys just keep growing; I don't know why that keeps happening! Today Cameron "graduated" from the literacy center reading program ('preschool' to us). He started it just one or two days before Kyle was born. Now Kyle's 6 months old (today!) and the other night we gave Kyle rice cereal for the first time. He's not really a fan of it yet, but the picture is sure misleading!

First rice cereal (Mar. 5, 2010) We also tried squash a couple days later but he was too grumpy to give it a chance.

Hello again! Here's a mini-update in pictures, not counting our Europe trip. I'll have to get to that later.

We took Cameron ice skating towards the end of January. He had a good time!

One more thing

I told my mom I would write this down, and it's just so cute I have to share it. Killin' two birds with one stone!

We've been having some issues getting Cameron to stay in his bed at night. He gets up a lot, wants to be checked on constantly, and after all that ends up in our room during the night. He says he's scared ("it's too dark when I close my eyes!") and so we're just trying to figure out what to do. Anyway, one night I was getting really frustrated. I said, "What is your problem? Just stop getting out of bed, this is ridiculous. Why do you keep doing this?" or something along those lines. With his arms out, also frustrated, Cameron quietly said--very sincere and serious--"Look at me. I'm four."

Just a quick post....

Just to share a little good news...So that everyone knows, Aaron and I are going to AUSTRIA! It's always been my dream to go there. But the only way we could ever go is if it's in the winter and if we have somewhere to stay for free. Which we do!! We'll be staying with my 2nd cousin and her family. We are going over when Kar leaves for her nanny gig, in 3 weeks. (Feb. 1st.) I was really nervous to leave Cameron and Kyle behind, and leave them clear on the other side of the ocean. But I think we feel peaceful about things going well enough to return safely. My mom, on the other hand, will have the hard part watching the boys! But, in our defense, it was her idea. She didn't want Kar going by herself. :) We both have passports, but Aaron's was expired so we had to get that renewed. We did the expedited service just to make sure it got here on time, and we got it in a week! We will also be stopping in London on our way back for a couple days!


I also just had to write down a few things Cameron has said lately. He makes us laugh!

• One night, out of the blue, Cameron asked, "Are diamonds waterproof?"

• Last night Cameron said, "When I'm with grandma for nine days, I'm going to be like a marshmallow." I said, "Huh? What do you mean? That doesn't even make sense." He said, "Because a marshmallow is like a circle and if you count around it, you count to nine."

Still doesn't make sense.

December in a nutshell........

My friends, Sara and Missy, recently started a photography business and took some pictures for us. They do such a good job and I'm anxious to get the CD from them with all the shots! Here are a just few of them.

Soooooo cute??? Yep.

In other news, we had the best night/worst night since Kyle was born a couple nights ago. He slept for almost 9 hours straight!! Amazing. The worst part was that I couldn't sleep. How frustrating! But we're praying for more often nights like that; it was good for Kyle. He is growing like crazy. He had his 2 month check-up last week and is in the 65-70-75 percentile for height/weight/head circumference (I don't know which is which though). He's 12 lbs, 13 oz. and 23 inches long. Big kid! He's getting rather chunky, which is a change for us. Cameron was so skinny, and never had a double chin, that we can remember! We all love Kyle's smiles (no way around that rhyming, huh?). It's cute to watch and hear Cameron's voice go up two octaves when he talks to him and tries to get him to smile.

We had our nine year anniversary on Tuesday....crazy! Time flies. It's been a good nine years though, and many more to come. We went out to dinner at the Cheesecake Factory, and of course had delicious cheesecake for dessert. Thanks to my fam for watching the kiddies!

Last night Mel, Kar, my friend Lana, and I went to the midnight premier for New Moon, and we had a great time. The lack of sleep hasn't caught up with me yet...it will probably hit pretty soon though! It was fun to have a girls' night out. So a big thanks to Aaron for taking Kyle during the night. And as I write this, Kyle's zonked out in my arms, but if I try to lay him down and rest, can you guess what happens? Yeah, he instantly wakes up. So I'll just have a numb arm and get stuff done. :)

Kyle Patrick Spencer has arrived!

The newest member of the Spencer family is here! Finally!

And I'm finally getting around to writing about it! I've been a tad busy. :)

My doctor had scheduled me to be induced at UVRMC on September 10th . The baby just wasn't coming on his own, and since it was 5 days past my due date I'd about had it! I called the hospital that morning to see if they knew yet what time they wanted me to come in. They said they were really busy, so I really didn't have any hope that they were even going to call me back that day. I figured I had a free and boring day ahead of me, so Cameron and I went to the Legacy Center to walk around the track a million times trying to speed things along! I was pretty depressed, so then my mom and sister Kar took me to lunch at Zupa's. Delish! Anyway, the hospital called a few minutes to 3:00, and said they were ready for me. Yay! Of course, every day up 'til this day I was super prepared--had a clean house, took a shower, had my hair done, shaved my legs (mostly just 'cause that makes me feel better), but of course that didn't happen that day. I was frantically getting little last minute things done, which I was trying to avoid; oh well!

Anyway, I met up with Aaron at my fam's house and dropped Cameron off there. We got down to the hospital about 4:00, and then they gave me the pitocin around 4:45. I started having contractions after a while--not fun!--got the epidural (Aaron was a good sport through all this, since he missed the pre-epidural stuff last time), and my water broke maybe around 7:30 or so. Finally things got going around 8:30 and I called my family to bring Cameron down so they'd all be there as soon as we had the baby. I started pushing at 9:20, and out he came at 9:37! He was all squishy and sort of chubby-looking, actually, and didn't look a thing like we expected. Mostly we thought he'd at least resemble Cameron a little, but he was definitely his own little person. Very cute, nonetheless! They got him cleaned off a bit, weighed him....And I was shocked that he was 7 lbs. 12 oz. That's huge to me! He was also 19 1/2 inches long. And he had a cute little cry. We let Cameron be the first to come in and see him, and it was a very cute little moment. He was so excited!

He was also the first one to hold him. It was pretty cute, and I'm glad he's so excited to be a big brother.

We were pretty sure that we were going to name him Kyle, but we still wanted to wait and see what the little guy looked like. It still took us a little while to decide--that night I was laying awake (unfortunately, didn't sleep so great that night) and I was thinking about different names, and either I would realize how dumb certain names sounded, or when Aaron and I talked about it and I said the names out loud, they sounded even dumber. Even though they were all good names! They just didn't sound right for him. So we went with Kyle Patrick. To me, no dumbness. That's good.

So here's the sweetest little baby boy born in the last four years:

The chubbiness wore off a little bit, and he's starting to look like he might actually be our child :)

I just had a few tidbits I forgot to write about yesterday......


As you know, Cameron is always saying funny things, so here are some of the latest:

• He waits as long as possible before realizing he needs to go to the bathroom, and I tell him to not wait so long that he's dancing. One day he started doing a little jig in front of the toilet, and said, "I am definitely to the dancing point!"


• Cameron looked at our butter dish one night--

And then he said, "It looks like a two-headed piano!"

• Last night we were watching the History Channel, and it was talking about a 70's muscle car. It was saying how powerful it was, how fast it could go, etc. Then Cameron said, "Guess what? If you were driving to Idaho in that car, you'd get there like faster than you thought."
